On Wednesday, 30 March, Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, met with General Philip Mark Breedlove, Commander of the U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) of NATO Allied Command Operations, at the parliament.
Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, strongly condemns the terrorist attacks carried out in Brussels on 22 March, expresses her deepest condolences to the families of those killed and wishes quick recovery to those injured in the attacks.

On Thursday, 10 March, the Saeima in the third and final reading adopted amendments to the Criminal Law. Inter alia, the Law has been supplemented with a new section establishing criminal liability for employers who pay salaries to their employees without registering these payments in their accounting.
Saeima supports higher pension indexation as of 2017 (10.03.2016.)
On Thursday, 3 March, the Saeima in the second and final reading adopted amendments to the Law on State Pensions that provide for a higher pension indexation as of 2017, whereby the pension indexation will be based on 50% of insurance contribution from wages instead of the current 25%.
Saeima preliminarily supports amendments to the Criminal Law aimed at addressing threats of hybrid warfare (03.03.2016.)
On Thursday, 3 March, the Saeima in the first reading adopted amendments to the Criminal Law, which substantially revise and adjust current provisions of the Law regarding the responsibility for crimes against the state. MPs agreed on the urgency of these amendments and decided to consider them in the second and final reading on 7 April.
