“The war has strengthened our society, making it more active, courageous, and democratic. It has fostered a spirit of initiative, where people do not wait for orders from above but take action, mobilise, seek solutions, and respond proactively. This support is a testament to the resilience of Latvia’s civil society. Non-governmental organisations and volunteers lead by example, inspiring politicians to make bold decisions,” stated Deputy Speaker of the Saeima Antoņina Ņenaševa on Thursday, 20 February, at the opening of the exhibition "Three Years Together: Latvia’s Support for Ukraine" in parliament.

“For three years, the Ukrainian people have fought for their freedom and future. Their resilience and determination are extraordinary, and we in Latvia have not remained passive. We have supported Ukraine militarily, financially, politically, and in humanitarian efforts,” said the Deputy Speaker, highlighting that Latvia’s total support for Ukraine has now surpassed EUR 859 million.

“The war has changed us all. From the very first day, by standing with Ukraine, we as a society have grown stronger and more confident in our abilities,” added Ņenaševa, expressing gratitude to all those who have contributed and continue to do so.

“Ukraine will prevail, and when that moment comes, it will emerge as a strong, developed, and thriving economy. Latvia will stand as its closest partner in cooperation and reconstruction,” she affirmed.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia, Anatolii Kutsevol, emphasised that every Ukrainian today is not only enduring but actively fighting for the future of a free country. To sustain this fight, Ukraine needs continuous support, he stressed, expressing deep appreciation to Latvia and its people for their unwavering assistance. “Every small step adds to a greater effort, and today, Ukraine needs this support more than ever,” Kutsevol stated.

Highlighting Latvia’s comprehensive support for Ukraine, the exhibition "Three Years Together: Latvia’s Support for Ukraine" features photographs from the Saeima, the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs, the association "I Want to Help Refugees," Riga East University Hospital, and various other photographers’ personal archives.

Military equipment and ammunition, drones, vehicles and buses, computers, trench candles, camouflage nets, clothing and food, soldier training and rehabilitation, and the rebuilding of homes destroyed in the war—this is just part of the assistance that Latvia has provided to the people of Ukraine over the past three years.
