Saeima ratifies Rail Baltica agreement (26.06.2017.)
On Thursday, 22 June, the Saeima ratified the agreement concluded by the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian governments to build the Rail Baltica rail connection.

On Thursday, 15 June, the Saeima adopted in the final reading the amendments to the Animal Protection Law prohibiting the use of wild animals in circuses and other shows. At present, it is allowed. Other amendments triggered by the European Commission clarify the provisions of the Law pertaining to laboratory animals.

Ināra Mūrniece: close transatlantic cooperation helps to counter terrorism and threats of information warfare (20.06.2017.)
Our common goal on both sides of the Atlantic is to ensure security and prosperity for our citizens. Security implies not only military security, but also cybersecurity and the security of financial systems and information space. It is therefore important to strengthen Transatlantic cooperation to counter terrorist threats, information warfare and cyberattacks. Saeima to host conference on Eastern Partnership (07.06.2017.)

Speaker Mūrniece: We want to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan in trade, transport and logistics (29.05.2017.)
Latvia and Azerbaijan have a good basis for deepening cooperation in trade, transport and logistics. Speaker Ināra Mūrniece stressed this on Monday, 29 May, at the Saeima, during a meeting with Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is in Latvia on an official visit.
“Latvia and Lithuania need to continue active cooperation in security and defence, as well as the transport and energy sectors,” said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, when she met with Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Lithuanian parliament, in Burbiškas, Lithuania on Friday, 26 May.
In recent years, Latvia and India have been successfully developing bilateral relations: the political dialogue has become more active, the trade volume has increased, and successful cooperation has been established in education and culture. Speaker Ināra Mūrniece stressed this on Wednesday, 24 May, at the Saeima, during a meeting with Mobashar Jawed Akbar, Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India.
Gundars Daudze in Warsaw stresses the importance of energy and transport joint ventures (18.05.2017.)
Joint infrastructure projects linking several European regions give a great impetus to the economic development and simultaneously improve the region's security. Gundars Daudze, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, stressed this on Thursday, 18 May, at the Polish parliament, while addressing the Summit of Speakers of Central and Eastern European Parliaments.
“We are pleased that the Latvian-Uzbek cooperation is becoming more extensive and extends to a variety of areas”. Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, stressed this on Tuesday, 16 May, at the Saeima, during a meeting with Nigmatilla Yuldashev, Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who, accompanied by a delegation, was in Latvia on an official visit.
