On Thursday, 14 July, the Saeima supported in the third and final reading amendments to the Law on Higher Education Institutions and the Education Law, granting specific higher education institutions the right to evaluate academic degrees and education documents issued abroad, issuing a certificate if the holder of the education document is planning to commence or continue studies in Latvia.

"Ukraine is fighting not only for its own values, but also those of the whole democratic world, and your courageous struggle impresses societies in many countries and sets an example for the entire world," said Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, at a meeting with Denys Herman, Chair of the Subcommittee on Modern Information Technologies and Innovations in Budgeting Process of the Committee on Budget of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (Parliament), on Tuesday, 12 July.

"Democracy is one of the fundamental values underpinning the European Union. Everything must be done to prevent third countries from interfering in democratic processes", stressed Marija Golubeva, Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Saeima, on Monday, 11 July, during the meeting of the Chairpersons of the Conference of the Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC) in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. MP Golubeva underlined the need for targeted action to protect the integrity of political parties from the covert funding by third countries that affects the electoral process.

Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, while addressing the Honorary Consuls of Latvia in the Parliament on Monday, 11 July, thanked them for their commitment, energy, and dedication to work for the benefit of the Latvian state.

“We thank you for your support for the security of Latvia and the Baltic region. Each soldier from Spain, serving here, in Latvia, side by side with soldiers from Latvia and other NATO countries, is a representative of your country,” said Inese Lībiņa‑Egnere, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, on Friday, 8 July, during a meeting with Meritxell Batet Lamaña, President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, and the high level delegation accompanying the President.

Latvia highly appreciates Spain’s swift response to the changing security situation in Europe and the country’s important contribution to the security of the Baltic region. Spain’s decisive action - increasing its military presence in Latvia - is a prime example of the unity and solidarity of our allies, emphasised Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, on Friday, 8 July, during a meeting at the Latvian Parliament with Meritxell Batet Lamaña, President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, and the high level delegation accompanying the President.

We highly appreciate Switzerland's leadership in spearheading the recovery of Ukraine. The conference in Lugano, co-organised by Switzerland and Ukraine, is a successful start to coordinated support from the democratic world for the recovery of Ukraine. This was underlined by Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Irène Kälin, President of the National Council (Parliament) of the Swiss Confederation, in Lugano, Switzerland.

Ukraine needs the support of the international community now as Ukraine's recovery is not a matter for tomorrow, but today. What is needed most now is military assistance from allies for Ukraine to restore its sovereignty—to stop the aggressor and regain its territory. This was emphasised by Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, during her meeting with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, in Lugano, Switzerland. The Speaker of the Saeima is currently on a working visit to Switzerland, where she is taking part in a conference on the recovery of Ukraine.

"Latvia is ready to participate in the recovery of Ukraine, and our civil society and private sector are determined to support Ukraine," said Ināra Mūrniece, Speaker of the Saeima, on Tuesday, 5 July, in Lugano, Switzerland, addressing the participants of the conference dedicated to the recovery of Ukraine.
